In 1960, on the occasion of the Olympic Games held in Rome, the traditional relay to carry the Olympic Flame from Greece to the capital also touched the east coast of Sicily on its way. In this short fragment, we see on an August morning a glimpse of a small town in the province of Catania, probably Acireale, in festive mood, with tricolours and flags with the five rings affixed to houses and shops, a band and a lot of people, among the curious and enthusiasts. We do not see any torchbearers with flames, but the document is still interesting. As can be seen from the chronicles of the time, the flame had passed through the territory of Catania proper in the middle of the night, passing in the early hours of the morning in the towns along the Jonian coast.
