In the reel entitled ‘Specialità Bolognesi’, we witness the preparation of one of the most iconic dishes of Bolognese gastronomic tradition: tortellini. The film opens with a sign that reads: ‘Of divine origin, because inspired by the navel of Venus but taken from the same matrix’, recalling the legend that attributes tortellini the shape of Venus' navel. The scene continues with a woman cutting the dough into small circles. ‘Gravidi d'industrioso ripieno’, another sign indicates, and on the small circles of dough is placed the filling. And finally, ‘Tortellini are born’, which are placed on a baking tray, ready to be cooked.
