The San Marco bell tower anticipates the maze of canals and buildings which leads to what is now called Largo Treves, where some sign can be seen - maybe ads, perhaps another office - belonging to the Ganzini optical store, which had a main store just beyond the corner: 29, Via Solferino. The "Inner Canal Circle", doesn't exist anymore, was a canal sorrounding Milan byu the old medieval walls (the "inner circle" of the forst walls), all around the city downtown. Baldassini films them last minute: they were covered and buried starting March 1929, and they were definetely gone starting 1930, more ore less one year later, when the works were done.
