Althoug it is known today as "Oltremare Exhibition", the complex in the Fuorigrotta district, in the Naples suburbs, was born from the idea - similar to that one of the EUR in Rome - to have a universal fair place to celebrate the Fascist spread beyond the sea (literally, "oltremare"). Inaugurated on May 9th, 1940, it was suspended a month later due to the declaration and the start of the war. Devastated by the conflict, the buildings were built again in the 1950s, but the bad planning of the fairs held brought to financial crack, which doomed the site to abandonment (despite it being the host of the refugees after the Irpinia earthquake) until 1999, when teh Campania Region valorized it. It is today the site for several exhibitions. The film was shot on May 31st, 1940.
