Already birthplace to both the Cicognani Cardinals, in 1986 Pope Giovanni Paolo II went visiting Brisighella during his Pastoral Visit in Romagna (May 8-11). In the group getting closer to the church there are, beside the Pope, Brisighella Mayor Giuseppe Bartoli and Cardinals-to-be Dino Monduzzi and Achille Silvestrini.
