The Church of San Giovanni degli Eremiti, a national monument and UNESCO heritage site, stands out from the other, already distinctive churches in the Palermo area for its unique and unmistakable forms. Cubic volumes and hemispherical domes, the arabesque cloister, make one think more of an Islamic building than a Catholic one. Perhaps this is why the two women who visit the church in this film appear so intrigued and fascinated.
