Romano Zamagna humorously recounts the lives of Paola and Giovannino, young newlyweds. After their wedding and a honeymoon trip through Italian cities, they return to Rimini to start their new life. The key moment in the story takes place in the kitchen: Giovannino, hungry, urges Paola to prepare lunch. To her husband's surprise, his wife sets the table and pulls out a series of tins of canned food: from the starter to the main course, from the side dish to the fruit. The camera lingers on the details of the jars, emphasising the husband's incredulity and bitterness. Giovannino, dreaming of a plate of steaming noodles, futilely attempts to open the jars with a can opener, fuelling the comic and paradoxical tone of the scene. Through an ironic lens, this sequence symbolises the impact of consumer society, which alters tradition with the promise of practicality, and reflects changes in gender roles by highlighting the conflict between traditional expectations and modern reality.
