On May 7, 1959, the Galeazzi family is in Frontignano di Ussita, in the Sibillini Mountains, about 1,350 meters above sea level at the foot of Monte Bove (2,169 m). Paola and Giovanni, Rodolfo’s children, have lunch with their mother Anna Maria Emiliani at a picnic table; later Paola rides a donkey led by a shepherdess along the trails. The children run and climb the limestone cliffs typical of this side of the Sibillini, with their vertical walls and contrast between rock and meadows creating a unique landscape. Several shots feature the family Fiat 1100, symbolizing modernity accompanying the trip. The footage ends with the façade of the Renaissance Sanctuary of Santa Maria di Macereto (1,000 m), an important local spiritual monument.
