In 1961, CAI Florence documented on 8mm sound film one of its outings in the Apuan Alps, starting from the Del Freo – Pietrapana Hut, managed by CAI Viareggio. The film shows men and women preparing for the excursion amidst laughter and games in the snow, before setting off along the itinerary leading to Pania della Croce. The footage follows the group along the ascent, up to the summit, where the hikers take a break and observe the broad and bright panorama of the Apuan Alps, "a well-known but always grandiose spectacle," as the off-screen commentary recalls.
