In 1966, Don Vitalini filmed the "Liaison Patrol" marching between the Branca Hut and the Meneghello Bivouac, in the upper Valfurva, along the access routes to Punta San Matteo. The images show a small group of men, probably Alpini (Mountain Troops) or mountaineers engaged in an exercise, moving among rocks, snow, and glaciers in a severe high-altitude environment. The camera lingers on the metal bivouac located at the Colle degli Orsi, on the plaque dedicated to Captain Francesco Meneghello, and on moments of rest where the patrol members communicate using a field device, rest among the rocks, or prepare for the subsequent ascent. The sequences then follow the progression in a roped team on steep slopes and glacial sections, alternating close-ups with the immense panoramas of the Ortles-Cevedale group.
