What we see is Rose Island, a micronation born, grown and fallen in two months' time. It was 1968 when engineer Giorgio Rosa decided to built a platform just outside Italian territorial waters, so declare and independent nation and be able to have their own laws, currency, language and culture. It was never recognized by any country worldwide, and it was soon cleared by Italian Police and torn down byt a gale about a year later.
