As it happens every year, on September 3rd the Santa Rosa Apparatus runs through the streets of Viterbo, a monument which, in cycles of multiple years, is renewd and is built from scratch by a new artisan and designer to celebrate and reenact the repositioning of the Saint's corpse happened in the XIII Century. Since 1967, this simulacrum has been of giant proporions: 30 mt. tall, it weighs several thousands of Kilograms and it is always topped with the Saint's statue, carried through the streets of the city for more than a kilometre by a group of carriers known as the "Porters", dressed in white with the typical red sash. The tour takes place by stepping in the city squares, in which has already been arranged a specifically designed sawhorse to lay the Apparatus down on, before starting again and moving on. Before the start of the ceremony, during Summer, the Apparatus is covertly built, hidden within scaffolds with heavy cloths to conceal it.
