On June 27th, 1977, the citizens in Reggio Emilia are invited to attend the Solidarity Agreement signing between the African National Congress (ANC) and Reggio Emilia Municipality. Oliver Tambo, president of the ANC, takes the opportunity to pay tribute to the monument to the Reggio Emilia Resistance in Piazza Martiri, there sited on July 7th, 1960.
