In meteorology, the hoar-frost is a form of atmospherical precipitation which occurs in an ice deposit on outer objects in the shape of needles, scales or continuous iced surface, and it can happen when it is foggy and the temperature is well below 0° celsius. It was once widespread in the damp areas around Ravenna.
