One of the numerous tourist villages that sprung up on Sicilian beaches in the 1960s and 1970s. It was named after an ancient Syracusan settlement, dating back to Greek times, located on the Ragusa coast. The rigid and aseptic concrete structures hardly harmonised with the naturalistic context of the beautiful beach. However, images of amused and cheerful people remain.
