In this film entitled ‘Modern method of canning Williams pears’, the activity of the Colombani factory in the production of Williams pears in syrup is documented. The interior of the factory is characterised by stacks of wooden crates containing pears. A worker in a white uniform pushes a trolley loaded with crates towards the processing line, where other workers are engaged in the process. Colombani has devised a unique method for peeling the pears, which is illustrated in the various steps: the pears are washed, then transported on rollers to facilitate the process and peeled manually by a group of female workers, thus ensuring careful preparation for packaging. ’
