In 1962, in Rimella, a small Walser village in the Valsesia Valley, Piedmont, Buratti Zanchi documents a community celebration highlighting the cultural heritage of this Germanic-origin people. The Walser, who settled in the high Alpine valleys between the 13th and 14th centuries, have preserved their language, traditions, and distinctive architectural features, such as wooden houses. The footage shows a group of women in traditional Walser attire walking and posing in front of the camera, with the mountains as a backdrop. Among the most striking images of the sequence, the group poses on a suspension bridge.
