On September 9, 1962, the amateur filmmaker Gustavo Buratti Zanchi films the streets of Ortisei in Val Gardena, bustling with the Ladin Festival, an event celebrating the language, culture, and traditions of the Ladins, an ancient Rhaeto-Romance ethnic group of the Dolomites. The procession of participants in traditional South Tyrolean attire marches accompanied by a musical band, also in costume. The footage shows views of the valley and surrounding mountains, including Forcella Pana, Sassolungo, and Monte Seceda, highlighting the mountain ranges of Passo Gardena that encircle Ortisei. Particularly striking is the scene of a bagpipe player, filmed while performing next to a journalist recording him. The images convey the strength of Ladin cultural roots, celebrated with music, dance, and colors, emphasizing the language, craftsmanship, and traditions of this Alpine people.
