In 1903 the project to build a railway path to link the city with the Inferior Funicolar Station, to break down the 4 hours needed by horse from Naples, was completed, whereas it had already been dropped once in 1896 due to the high costs. Thanks to a circumstance of multiple simultaneous projects, and to the subsequent decreasement of costs, the railway was realized in narrow gauge for most of the distance, turning to gear rack only for the worse trait. in 1913, after the 1906 eruption damages, it was extended to the newly-built station in Pugliano-Resina, demolished in the early 70s, from which the family leaves for their trip arriving at the electric station-warehouse (named "Cook" after teh society running the funicolar railway), from which we can start noticing the gear rack.
