After the recovery of volcanic activity in 1913, 15 years later the Vesuvio crater had within it a volcanic vent taller then the edges of teh main one themselves. The 1929 eruption, however, leveled it - and in this film, in fact, we see the dense smoke coming out of it, as a heritage of the event.
