Tradition has it that on the spring equinox, those who have made a vow to Saint Joseph have to set up an altar in their homes with the help of friends and family. They also have to cook different foods, but especially bake bread, which represents sustenance for the body and soul. Children, impersonating the Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph, eat the food in the house, recreating the scene.
