In 1961, CAI Florence documented one of its outings in the Apuan Alps on 8mm sound film; the sequence captures the return from Pania della Croce. The film alternates suggestive images of ridges illuminated by the sunset, the silhouette of the moon appearing above the mountains, and the hikers filmed in backlight as they advance along the slopes. Some sequences show groups of men sitting at rest singing alpine songs, while the off-screen voice comments on the excursion. On the return route from Pania della Croce, shots of paths, rocks with commemorative plaques, and a glimpse of the valley enveloped in mist appear.
