In September 1966, Sante Rudatis was at Lake Resia in Curon Venosta (Bolzano). The amateur filmmaker filmed the famous submerged bell tower emerging from the water of the lake. The camera alternates close-ups of the stone tower and tight shots of the arches and the clock, with scenes of tourists on the shore posing for photographs with the bell tower behind them. The tower belonged to the church of Curon, which was submerged in 1950 during the creation of the Resia hydroelectric basin; the village was evacuated and demolished, but the 14th-century bell tower remained visible, transforming into a historical and tourist symbol of the valley.
