In 1982, Sante Rudatis filmed an excursion in Val Sesis, at the source of the Piave River, in the territory of Sappada. The sequence opens with images of a waterfall set between rock faces and dense vegetation, at whose base two people walk along the stony riverbed of the torrent. This is followed by shots of a small wooden and metal bridge, crossed by hikers. The final part documents the stop at the stone monument that marks the birth of the river: the marker bears the engraving “Qui nasce il Piave – Comune di Sappada” (The Piave is born here – Municipality of Sappada) and is located at the foot of Monte Peralba.
