On March 27th, 1970, Alcide Cervi passed away, symbol of the Resistance and known as "Papà Cervi" ("Cervi Dad"). Civil funerals are held on March 30th. From a stage mounted in Piazza Martiri, in front of the Romolo Valli Thatre in Reggio Emilia, several high-profile politcial figures gave a speech. A pan-shot made from the Theatre shows a mob of people cramming the square. Franco Cigarini recorded with more than a reel the days in celebration of Cervi Dad. The director, in fact, was very close to Alcide, so that he dedicated the documentary "Cervi Dad" to him, made on commission for Unitelefilm.
